The Ministry of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform has signed a cooperation protocol with Visa, an international payment company, with the aim of spreading the culture of digital payments and clarifying its positive impact on economic growth, encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting the implementation of Vision 2030.
The Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, said that the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the Ministry of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform to facilitate the provision of services to citizens as well as support the completion of the system of automation of services, which includes electronic payment and collection system, The efforts exerted by the Ministry to continue to be presented in the same field, which reflects positively on the development process
She also stressed the State’s constant efforts to transform itself into a digital society in line with the technological developments currently taking place in the world, noting the keenness of the Ministry of Planning to carry out its role to achieve the vision of Egypt 2030, The National Payments Council, which aims to reduce the use of banknotes outside the banking sector, encourage the use of electronic payment channels and achieve financial coverage in order to integrate the largest number of citizens in the banking system with the integration of the informal sector in the formal sector.
Al-Saeed added that the memo helps facilitate the transformation of the society into non-cash transactions and electronic payment services, which will stimulate the growth of financial coverage in line with international IT standards to achieve tangible benefits for the Egyptian economy and enhance government services.
Al-Saeed added that the memorandum includes the main objectives of organizing awareness raising workshops, organizing events to sensitize governmental institutions and government officials on payments, noting that these activities contribute to raising awareness about digital payments and their impact on various aspects of social and economic development
Al-Saeed added that the main objectives of the memorandum included the use of financial literacy materials to increase awareness of financial services and payment services for groups, as well as the goals of encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting the implementation of Vision 2030 by providing advice and pioneering thinking on the role of digital payments and innovation, Development of electronic payments as well as the exchange of best practices and solutions for digitization
